Fog Melts The Snow

My winter synth favorites

A subgenre of dungeon synth, winter synth "tends to have a more open expansive feel, with the hypnotic quality of an open landscape. By its nature it is slightly more minimalistic than dungeon synth, and as such there is theoretically a greater overlap into the realms of dark ambient and drone. The most common themes are snow, ice, forests and mountains." - https://wintersynth.blogspot.com

These are my favorites but you can't go wrong with any of the releases by these artists. I was introduced by first hearing the compilation In The Kingdom Of Fog and it might still be my all-time favorite. Although during the shortest days and longest nights, an Aindulmedir cassette is never far away.

So let the wind howl, and the snowdrifts rise,

In this sonic haven, winter never dies.

For within the rhythm, the heart finds its ease,

Lost in the blizzard, to synth-driven pleas.
