The new year starts with a mix by one of my favourite artists and producers Daria Lourd aka Bored Lord. She has been on my radar for her relentless and beautifully crafted mixes and edits for about 3 years and I am happy that Daria is the first artist in 2022 to contribute to the mix series. Apart from being a glamorous figure and well renowned DJ in the night clubs of NYC, San Francisco, LA, her hometown Oakland and beyond, Daria started self-releasing her own productions and edits back in 2018. She uses her vast influences spanning several decades of music and genres to produce her own tracks and combines them with samples from TV series, movies, pop songs and rave anthems but also collaborated with producer, singer and performance artist IDHAZ for her EP They Never Taught Us To. Daria’s first production outside of her own bandcamp, The Last Illusion EP, came out in September 2021 on Eris Drew’s and Octo Octa’s T4T LUV NRG. It was the first release that was not produced by either one of the co-founders of the label. Her motivation for this expansive creative output comes from keeping the tradition and craft of DJing and edits alive, giving people something to dance to and allowing room for whatever process might come out of that but also utilizing her craft for her own expression and world building. Love this! Bored Lord is working on a full length album and several collaborational EPs with friends at the moment, so keep your eyes and ears open.
