Hyper Real Radio - New Music Friday Picks, 31.05.24

Hyper Real is a Telegram (t.me/h_y_p_e_r_r_e_a_l) and IG (ig.me/j/AbaSTjURuvel7y-Q/) channel by DJ and curator Opium Hum, sharing new music daily

2024 keeps on giving us incredible music and today's particularly incredible!

Emika is back with an album full of melancholic UK garage ballads that are reminiscent of the twilight in which Burial usually operates.

Verraco's long-awaited EP on Batu's Timedance label shows that the exceptional producer is still developing his sound and adding a new, exciting tonalities with each release - fans of Modeselektor in particular should listen up.

Suzi Analogue sums up her diverse sound on her mixtape "ONEZ", juxtaposing archive material with unreleased new tracks, drawing a sonic map that places her between footwork, hip hop, acid house and the Afro-futurist avant-garde she has been shaping like few others.

NAAFI co-founder LAO, who has just released a monumental album, follows up with a new EP on which he combines creaky 303 sounds and experimental latinx club rhythms.

Particularly exciting is the long-awaited new album from former Coil member Drew McDowall, which is, as expected, a masterclass in minimalist modular synthesizer sound art, music that oscillates between psychedelic ambient and almost Hildegard von Bingen-esque mysticism.

Parisian producer Basile3 presents his debut album of electronic R&B that is heavily influenced by the hyperpop sound palette without sounding formulaic.

Also based in Paris is Tatyana Jane - in recent months she has mainly attracted attention with high-profile b2b sets with Skrillex, but her debut EP on the Mexican NAAFI label shows that she has a very exciting future ahead of her as a producer of peak time rave bangers.

Jensen Interceptor's International Chrome presents us with an album by Frenquency, covering a comprehensive range of footwork, baile funk, ghetto tech, techno and bass-heavy dance music, of the usual high standard we know and love the label for.

There's also a new EP from neurofunk god Current Value, K-Lone's take on tech house that's perfect for a Monday morning at Club der Visionäre, a raptor house euro dance banger from Mina and anyoneID (and a new EP from raptor house king DJ Baba himself) and plenty of other dancefloor gems that should get you through the weekend.
