Active / Passive takes place in Shxixnetun (Sturdies Bay) on what is known as Galiano Island on August 11 - 13, 2023. Featuring amiskwaciy artist Matthew Cardinal, cellist Marina Hasselberg, and BC’s Tsimka & Michael Red, the festival will include live performances by Adam2, Air Above Mountains, BEN, enereph, Jairus Sharif, Kuma, Pesewa, Piu, Sanford, SWAMP WAGON, THRUMS, Trevor Lang, Toni-Leah C. Yake, and American ambient trio Wild Card. In addition, audiences can experience a public art exhibition by Galiano youth, a sound and sculptural installation by Barbara Adler and local musician Dan Gaucher, as well as performances by Subscura, an inter-arts performance collective.
